PoolTimer™ is designed for timing, recording, and saving shot time intervals for any two-player (or two-team) cueing game. Our Timer differs from other game timers due to the difference in how play proceeds in most billiard disciplines. For example, in chess, as in many other games, players alternate in making their moves and each player makes only one move per turn. In contrast, in pool and billiards, each player may shoot from one to multiple shots in his or her half-inning. Thus, other game or chess timers are not well suited for the cueing disciplines.

Two principal reasons why anyone would want to time players’ shots:
-To monitor players’ shot times whenever a Shot Clock is used in competition
-To monitor games and matches for Slow Play

Slow play in the cueing sports:
In some venues playing too slowly can result in game and match changing penalties. Some televised competitions always impose a shot clock for all players. In those contests exceeding the allowed limit results in a foul and loss of turn. Though non-televised matches may only have guidelines for shot times and game and match durations, slow play may nevertheless cause conflict and controversy in these competitions. Occasionally, players are put on a ‘shot clock’ after complaints or disagreements have arisen or, optionally to improve the flow of play due to tournament or match time constraints.

PoolTimer™ allows measurement of two player’s or team’s individual shot times and then provides a review of shot time statistics for the players or teams. The reported stats include total shot time, number of shots timed, average shot time, median shot time, minimum (quickest), and maximum (longest) shot times.

Features:
*Allows recording of shot interval times for pool and billiards
*Calculates and records useful statistics about players’ or teams’ shot time intervals
*Records shot time statistics for both games and matches
*Provides for user adjustable warnings, i.e., “Alerts” for elapsing shot times
*Includes a mini-timer for measuring the duration of breaks in the action
*Optional audible alarms for use by a timing official or for individual practice
*Contains user adjustable “Extensions”; useful for events that call for this variation
*Easy error correction
*Maintains game and match statistics in History for about 200 games

Who will use PoolTimer™:
*Anyone involved with monitoring any cue sport games or matches for slow play
*Those interested in quantifying differences in playing tempo between players
*Players who desire practice for events that use a shot clock
*League players or operators wishing to monitor whether or not a team’s players stay within league guidelines for shot times
*Timekeepers for pool or billiard events that require shot clocks
*Team coaches and captains desiring to advise their players about their playing pace
*Tournament directors who find it necessary to speed up play for logistical reasons
*Players who would like to know how their playing pace compares with others

Whatever the incentive, PoolTimer™ can perform the desired timing functions and help settle disputes while also providing objective data for instant or later review.
Now, referees, fans, and pool and billiard timekeepers can accurately measure and record players’ shot times with PoolTimer™.
